Having lived in El Paso and San Angelo, I can say it is possible to prefer other places. I was raised in tree-covered hills. I think of Texas as hot, flat and treeless. I realize this best describes West Texas. East Texas is hot and humid (in the summer, at least, which is the only time I ever visited). "Hate" is a strong word. I dislike the Texas climate and terrain, but like most of the people.

My time in Texas is limited to the two months I was in basic training. So, as you might guess, I don't have particularly fond memories of it. I did spend a lot of summer vacations in Arkansas when I was young, and loved it. We were only about twenty miles from the border with Texas,, so how different could it be.

Generally, whether you like or dislike a locale, is mostly dependent on who you are with and what you are doing. I loved Montana,,, and I damn near froze my ass off up there,, but the people I was with were worth the effort needed to stay warm.

I agree with you ed... it's all about who you're with rather than where you are. We are expecting snow TUESDAY! I will always heart Texas! :wheelchair:

Directions to Texas: Head east (from the west, obviously) to Oklahoma, turn right and continue till you step in it. :wheelchair:

Just kidding. Actually, I don't care what everybody else says, I like Texas. We just completed a tour from Tucson to Atlanta, stopping at nearly every SCI center and rehab in between, demonstrating our Go-Anywhere Chairs. We did Amarillo, Wichita Falls, Dallas, Tyler, Houston and Austin. The highlight, of course, was scarfin' down on real Texas barbecue in the hills west of Austin. YUM! Also fresh seafood on the gulf southeast of Houston; REAL YUM! And friendly people all over.

Wow -- you hit up all the good spots! Austin has some really good BBQ... not so sure about that fresh seafood in Houston lol, but then again I don't like seafood. I have just seen the water... not so pretty! I would have to say that we are pretty friendly :D I have been wanting to go to Arizona (NASCAR race) but my plans have been put on hold.

Was Baytown actually and the shrimp, clams, red snapper and I can't recall what else, were outrageously good. Cheap too! Austin was a lot of fun and I had a good time in Linwood with a high school pal whom I hadn't seen in 30 yrs. BTW, Dallas SUCKS!

Ahh good old Baytown!!! I'm originally from Houston... born and raised. Ummmmm Dallas has its "perks" and its downfall's. Just depends what part you're in! I'm finding it hard to adjust, so I'm not going to really argue with you much on that one. HOWEVER I have met some really AWESOME people on this site that live in Dallas! Sooooo I can't hate too much :D it just about being around the right people!

I'll post new pictures of the snow TOMORROW!
