Don't do doughnuts in the parking lot! :tease:

You mean that kind of advice?

Sorry for pulling your leg, is there any specific area of the wheelchair you need advice on?

Regards

Simon :D

I've read so many conflicting reviews and now I am confused. I went to a wheelchair seating clinic and the pt and sales rep both agreed on this chair for me. I know nothing about it, but am excited about the power recline/tilt feature. Some days I just cannot stand up and they say I can actually sleep in this chair if need be. I had a fever a couple of weeks ago and could not get out of Jazzy chair - I stayed in the chair sitting up all day and all night. Any advice would be appreciated.

THANKS

i have a motion concept tilt/recline on a tdx chair base..

i dont care for the base...i live out in the country and i got stuck outside in my grass twice...it's not that great for outdoor use..it's nice for indoors for tight places especiialy Dr.'s offices.....

as for the tilt/reline i love it. i have slept in it... tilt system i use mostly for pressure relief and going down hills so i dont fall forward.. aLso helps keep you seated back in the chair... motion concept seaating system is well bult......just wish i had a better base tho lol..

im also on a rhoho cushion......hope that helped any questions just ask.....

Thanks so much! I mostly use a chair inside the house or shopping. I'm not outdoors except on cement or paved surfaces. How does the chair do going up and down ramps? I have a ramp to get in and out of the house and we have a van that kneels and a ramp that comes out. I ride ul the ramp and my husband locks me in. Please tell me how it takes ramps. THANKS!

No, we have Honda, but the concept is just the same. You say you go up, no problem.....what about coming down? I saw the YOUTUBE video where the guy is going forward and scrubbing really bad coming down a ramp like yours and mine in a van- so now I'm scared, because if I fall I cannot get up! SO, how do y opu do coming down. My ramp at our house is built by standards, so it it not too steep. HELP!!!!

Yes , i seen that video too ..nothing like that has happend to me yet..everytime i go down a ramp i think about it ..so i take my time.......going down ramp in van is no problem...i was in a casino that had steeper ramp than the van and i had no problem going up or down it....

the only real issue i had with the base was when i got on a little bit of uneven ground and getting stuck...but since your not going on grass you shouklnt have any problem..

My daughter has one that she only uses when she's at school to get around. Be aware of recall issues with this particular model of chair. Our daughter's chair has been in service for 3 yrs. and every year the Invacare company has a recall on something. Her chair is equipped w/tilt/recline/elevate and 3 different speed settings. What our vendor told us was this chair was something like a testing model for the next generation of power chairs. So far we have had to pay no out of pocket repair fees through our private insurance.

Thanks to all of you so much for taking the time to share your experiences with me. You have helped ease my mind and educate me. I guess if I didn't spend 12-15 hrs everyday in a chair I would not be so worried about every little thing. BUT, thanks again!! I have MS and unable to walk anymore. I can stand with help and hold on to a bar and pivot, but I'm thankful to be able to that and for still having my upper body strength.

Hey Guys,

Got my new chair. It is so comfortable and much easier to transfer in and out of compared to my old chair. BUT, the foot plate is huge and my husband has to try to lift up both of my legs and wrestle with the plate. They took it back and cut it down 2", but same problem. You will laugh:
when I went to the bathroom, he laid one leg on the toilet and put the other leg under his arm and still the plate scrubbed my legs! Tell me about youR foot plate - just one or 2 .....suggestions?

THANKS!

I asked about the 2 foot rests and the rep said it would make going through doorways more difficult and they were hard to put on the chair. He said they stick out a good bit and he didn't think I would like them. What do you think? Is going through doorways hard for you? Do they not lower with the power lift? No, I don't think it's too late.

HELP AGAIN!

Thanks!

hmm the leg rests dont add width to the chair..i been in and out of dr.'s office where its always a tight squeeze and i had no problem...the chair turns very tight as you've probably noticed and you can get pretty much anywhere with it..

ask if you could give them a try or if they have a loner you could use that have leg rest on..to see how you get around your house... and it's not hard to put leg rests on..

Hello Sneaky,

It's me again!!! They cut my center foot plate off and now it works great. BUT, my problem now is getting in the chair from the toilet. I never have a problem getting out of the chair from anywhere, but getting in is a huge problem from the toilet. I asked today if they could lower it some and he said they could but it would also lower the foot plate and I would go back to having the scrubbing problem again. I had a really bad day Saturday and my legs were stiff - I mean stiff as wooden boards and I started to slide out of the chair! Scared the pee turkey out of me! Any suggestions?
I bet that company wished they had never met me.....

I'm wondering now if a Pride chair would be better???? WHO KNOWS?

Thanks, SCGIGI

what's the point of lowering your leg rests if it's going to make you slide out of your chair and make you stiff...that's defeating the purpose right.? a pride chair isnt going to make a difference..when .the problem is the leg rests....have them fit you with swing away leg rests....
