Hi Si

I managed to change my car mid contact. I originally had to get a small car due to the lack of suitable parking space but when I moved to my new home parking space wasn't an issue anymore. I got in touch with motability and explained the situation and they let me choose a more suitable car.

Regards Vyt.

Motability ?

Ah yes. That's what you are denied having if you are unfortunate enough to be a bit older when you really need it Ain't rules wonderful? Not that I'm bitter or anything (much) :angry2: :)

Hi Vyt how ya been.
When you changed the car did you have to pay another deposit for the new car or was it a straight forward change over from the old one?

Hi Si

I didn't pay a deposit on my first car but did on my second car as it was a bigger car. So I don't know how you stand as regards deposits.

I have been intouch with motability and they would require a £100 cancelation fee for the contract and I would get back some of the deposit that was paid on the car but only after I had chosen another car and paid the deposit on that one and returned the original car to the dealership so I will be looking at some other cars that would be suitable for me to use the other thing is the deposit prices change at the end of this month and we are moving at the end of the month also so I dont have long to choose another car or wait for the new prices and hope the deposits stay at a reasonable rate?

I handed a Vauxhall Astra back when our family grew and got a Citroen Grand Picasso MPV (which now has just blown the engine apart!!)

Changing vehicles took one phone call to Motability. They were very helpful and provided you dont make a habit they are very accomodating. I got back a pro rata amount on my deposit. At end of the day its a finance deal and you have rights, they can charge you an admin fee.

Hi
I have just been on the phone to a local dealership to see if they have the car that would suit me to try but they dont have one in the showroom but they are getting back to me if they have a second hand one for me to try and get in and out of.
Motability told me that it is normally a £250 charge to exchange early but because of my situation they lowered it to £100 they will take it from the deposit I paid on the original car when they return the owed ammount to me I just hope the car that I am looking at is suitable for me that is if they have one for me to try.
The women at motability that i spoke to was very nice and understanding about the whole thing so I hope it goes ok.

I have been to the local dealership for the car I need to get and I have to say the motability sales man was the nicest and most helpful I have ever met and the car is 100% better for me than the car I have now and fingers crossed he said he might be able to get the one I need all ready for the end of the month seeing as I dont mind the colour they have one at another site in the show room so he should be able to get that one brought to the dealers near me and adaptions done.
