HUGE milestone in my recovery yesterday! Here is a You Tube video of me taking unassisted steps with both legs on the treadmill at Project Walk for the first time on 3/5/10

Congratulations Ashley.

We accidentally ran into a C5 and L5 last week who told us his story of recovery.

His doctors told him he'd never walk again, but he said 5 years after his accident, he was teaching yoga, kick boxing and breaking horses.

As we were getting into our car, my wife pointed him out running across the street ahead of traffic.

Even though I was diagnosed an incomplete, Asia B, I had a very bad injury and doctors gave me a 1-3% chance of ever walking again. I am 15 months post injury and I was starting to get depressed because things are going so slow. This is just what I needed to keep me going, keep me fighting, keep me hopeful.

Thanks for the support!

Just read an article the other day regarding the recovery rate for incomplete spinal cord injuries. It said that in the past about 40% of incompletes would go on to walk again, but now with all the exercise based recovery programs about 90% of incompletes walk in some fashion, even if it's just with a walker around the house.
