And The Oscar (2010) Goes To ... Any Opinions? Discussion of the latest Academy Awards

How do you feel about this year's Academy Awards?
Tastes differ - I would really like to know what you think.
So it seems The Hurt Locker won over Avatar? David against Goliath? Small budget / woman director won! And do you think the little scene with the wedding ring is a subtle reference to K. Bigelow's ex, J. Cameron? ;)
Sadly enough, I must admit I haven't seen either film yet. With my friend, we usually go "after-Oscar watching". In the past, I found some Award-winning films really breathtaking: Brokeback Mountain (with a fantastic Heath Ledger) and Slumdog Millionaire were great films, in my opinion. Titanic, however, - the scene with the little dog nearly drowning ... well, not really my favourite.
What do you think?

But a well deserved Oscar for hair (well wigs, actually) styles, and for having the courage to post them to the internet to be viewed for ever more.

SF: Be warned! Many philosophers (dating back to Plato - the cave image - and Descartes - "Cogito - ergo sum!" "I think - therefore I exist!") were relatively certain that all this life of ours is just a dream!! You might well wake up some morning to find yourself in a film, and then let's hope it's a good one, and you don't have to repeat mindless dialogues in eternity (another definition of hell). Me, I'd be quite content with a nice little scene with Pitt and Clooney ...
Well, back to basics:
The Oscar goes to ...
1) my son (13) as best male actor. He acts very convincingly both comedy and tragedy, and his father always believes him.
2) my daughter (19) for best script. "You don't believe what happened to me today!" (Yes, we do.) Everything's there: witty dialogues, lots of emotions, love, hate, fight for justice ... just don't expect ironical detachment (a teenager, as I said).
3) some very special people I admire - I'll keep this private.
4) two films:
SOUL KITCHEN
super funny great German film (2009)! Best film and best soundtrack! (Unfortunately, I found this only in German. Have a look anyway-you get an impression of the music and the characters.)
ADAM'S APPLES
fantastic Danish film (2005). VERY dark humour - very funny, very sad, very strange. Don't watch it if you don't like extremes. (Danish, with English subtitles on YouTube)
In fact, these films won prizes (only European ones), but after I watched and loved them.

As for the Oscars,,, It's all about the money,,, why do you think they doubled the number of nominees. That's twice as many CDs on the discount rack with "Nominated for an academy award" printed on the front.
I limit my movie watching to what I can see for free,,, so awards don't mean much to me a year or two down the road.
