Hi,

Low blood pressure when laying in bed is unusual, although generally as a Quad, your baseline blood pressure will be lower than before your injury.

Is your blood pressure lower when in bed, or just when you are in your wheelchair?

If the pressure sore is bearing weight (which you should be avoiding), then this would stimulate Autonomic Dysreflexia, which would raise your blood pressure.

If your blood pressure is dropping when you get into your wheelchair, then this is called Postural Hypotension (Orthostatic Hypotension), and is very common in spinal cord injuries, especially Quadriplegics.

It can be helped by drinking fluids before getting into your wheelchair, also, check the side effects of any medication, i.e. anti spasms medication etc.

Regards

Simon

Mine's been low [86/58] since my accident, had plenty of sores, lying in bed, bladder infections, but it always stays about the same.....

I'd say there's something going on........
