my favorite is "kiss of death" (1947) where richard widmark pushes the old lady in the wheelchair down a flight of stairs while laughing like a hyena....

+1 Was always one of my very favorite films preSCI and now I Love it even more so...but there are so many more levels to it than just the act of Kongress: gimps are people....antiWar...did I say gimps are human beings? Did I say antiWar? How about that gimp sex, though? :wink05:

Good movie, but I think Jane Fonda overacted in her part. melodramatic to the max.... the anti-war aspect was not lost on me either. i am personally familiar with war and as anti-war as anyone you will ever meet...gimpy snakeye

"an affair to remember" it was a heart wrencher.
hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

What about Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump? I love the scene when hes in the middle of a storm up on the mast of that shrimpboat hollering at god. I do that riding in my chair in the middle of a lightning storm and love it!!!
Holy crip I'm a crapple!!!

what about Blanche in "What ever happened to Baby Jane" Bette Davis
The line 'If I wasn't in this chair you wouldn't treat me like this ' is priceless.
and the reply 'But you are blanche' is pure evil ! lol

Agreed interesting heart wrencher even for a mere male, however the thing I found interesting was the 50's treatment of disability, it was hidden as much as possible within the film.

Not a movie..but the show Private Practice on ABC has a character in a wheelchair (Dr. Fife). I read that the actor-Michael Patrick Thornton is really in a chair and suffered a spinal stroke when he was 22. He's also done stage work in Chicago as well.

Movies- I agree with the rest..Affair to Remember, Forrest Gump, Avatar, oh and for those Twilight movie fans..Jacob Black's dad is in a wheelchair.

The Waterdance is a great movie about being paralyzed. It's one that most people don't know about.
