Right folks - here's a tester!

I was at a conference the other day and met a guy who had an SCI. Anyway, this guy could handle a wheelchair like I never saw before. I reckon he could turn a chair on a 10p piece!!

Anyway, as I watched him wheel away, I noticed he had coloured discs on the spokes of his wheelchair. I have never seen this before. Is this a fashion accessory? Or does it have some other significance? I have tried to find these on the internet but to no avail. So, thought I would test you all out.

I know you will come up with the answers.

Russ

Cheers for that. I knew someone would come up trumps.

They were certainly little discs on the spokes that made pretty patterns as his wheels spun round. Perhaps as the advert says he was "making a statement."

You know me - love asking questions and hate to be missing out!!

I have these spoke guards. This design is Purple Turtle by Quickie. They do do other designs, and Ive also seen several for sale on Ebay which Im thinking of getting just to ring the changes. I have to say Im always getting people stop me to say how much they like my chair, and I think there is a definate change in attitude if you 'drive' something funky as opposed to big and clunky. Just because we use chairs doesnt mean to say we cant be hip too!!

Wow! Some of those pictures are amazing. My colleagues are nothing compared to those.

In fact, remember when the craze was for putting the tops of smarties between the spokes of your bicycle wheels? Well, that is what his wheels resembled.
