As I cant get all my Duxford video on YouTube I've had to chop into short clips.
This is just a short clip of my visit, I can add more if anyones interested.

Mike

Here's another clip of a B17 Flying plus my old Hunter.
The girl in the Denim skirt was Dana, my Australian PA.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

Thanks Mellowgator. Here is the clip of the American Exhibition, which has the huge B52 inside.
It was so large, I couldn't get a good shot of it, only its 7' wheels.

I love Duxford and have been a to a few flying display days. Thanks for the trip down memory lane; let me know if you going this year and I will buy you a pint or two.

p.s. One of my favourite films is the Memphis Belle I have been to the Bassingbourn its base during the war.
If I fall out of my wheelchair in the woods would anybody hear me?

Great, Mike! My SCI friend is a pilot (small planes), and I'm sure he would like this, too. He just came back from the Easter holidays from a plane exhibition in Ludwigshafen (I think?), and he loved it. Those you show are very interesting planes - some history.

Thanks Scribs
I love Duxford and especually these two memories
Driving down the Royston road we heard the unmistakable merlin roar, pulled over and stopped as a 109 chased it. Then watched in amazement as they dog fighted over the airdrome
At the end we started to get back in the car - the road was full of parked cars that had pulled up
We wernt the only ones that had been thoroughly entertained
On a display day we were in front of a hanger over looking the runway and the comentator was saying the Mosquito should be in sight soon (so every body was looking up and down the runway)
Then a almighty roar from it's engines as it passed overhead from behind the hanger at very low level and disapeared at a fast rate of knotts in front of us
Didn't hear a thing until it was on top of us, what a owsome weapon it must have been on low level bombing raids
In the early days of my wheelie life I flew a microlight for a couple of years

And is your electric thingy realy that slow

Thanks Pikey; that's a date, but can I exchange those Pints for a large Single Malt?... :recourse:

That sounds like a great memory DD. I've actually been in a Mosquito, which is a tight squeeze. Did you know the nose is made of Balsa Wood?
I've 2 more clips, which make up the whole video. I have started transferring my VHS video's to DVD's via my computer.
And no, my electric 'thingy' goes much faster, but I wanted the film to be as smooth as possible, that's why I drove slowly.

Thanks for all your comments.

Sorry these aren't in the correct order.
This should have been at the start.

And this is the end.

Looks like a great place to visit. I've been to the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, many times. It's a nice place, but this looks better. At least, it's a different place with a different perspective and with much more than just aircraft. And you can go inside some of them. Can anyone visit? Even tourists from the U.S.? It might be worth a trip across the pond. I haven't traveled anywhere since my body quit working right. I need to try it out.

Yes Spot, anyone can visit and since I made that video there's much more to see. I shall be going before the "Little Darlings" have their school holidays.. :recourse:

I loved the place,

but my strongest recollection is of the extremely cramped accommodation on the Concorde example; it seemed odd that people would pay premium fares to be stuck in that tube, regardless of the speed.....and wheelchair users?

And when do the said darlings return to school? I won't have a chance to get there until autumn.

Enjoyed your clips Scribs, especially the Avro Lanc. My old man almost used to wet himself every time he saw one, bless him. He was a ground crew electrician on them with 156 squadron (Pathfinders) for most of WW2. It was the highlight of his life, I think, which is why he spent so much energy with the RAFA for the rest of his days. I was naturally brought up to worship the sound of the Lanc. Unbeatable. :)

Great clips Mike, bet that brought back memories. Looks like a great place for WW-II buffs to spend a few days. Looks even better than the WW-II Museum in New Orleans that I toured last November.
