Im currently using an RGK fixed frame chair which is great, but sometimes I want to go out with friends who have small cars, and its sod to get my chair in their little hatchbacks!!! So I was thinking I ought to look out for a folding chair which I could use instead. I dont intend to buy new as this is going to be a 'standby' chair, but hopefully someone can suggest a decent one that is comparible to to my RGK that I can look out for, and also not too heavy.

Thanks
lucy

Well, there's a tough one. I went to see RGK last week and am getting a demo chair soon so know a little about how good the positiing of an RGK is. I have a GPV and the support it gives is not great. However, if you want something for occasionaly use, then you ought to be thinking of a standard folding chair like the Quickie RXS. This is not a great chair, (heck it was what I had before the GPV) but it is not too bad on price and being folding and having removable foot rests means it will fit in quite small places. There are cheaper chairs along the same line; just do some searchig on the Internet.

I suppose if budget is no object, that the Quickie Revolution is about the smallest I have seen a chair fold. Some people have said that the catsrs stick out a bit too much making it hard to get round corners.

Is that a good start?

This thread on carecure forums might be of interest - not cheap and you'll be lucky to find anything like that second hand. You'll be unlikely to find any (standard) folding chair thats comparable in use to your RGK but if you're prepared to accept the compromise that's inherent in a standard folding chair then just get the lightest one with the highest list price you can find in your size, you probably can't afford to be too fussy if searching second hand. Just be careful as there's some absolute dross out there as a quick search on ebay will prove.
