Hi gang...

Was wondering if those of you in the UK could suggest a group or organization that offers couples counselling, where one spouse is able-bodied (me) and the other is a para.

I ask this because I think a third party will be the best way for husband to get the kick in the butt that he needs. You see, I'm pregnant (YAY!). I understand that I have loads of hormones running through my body, which exacerbates little minor things and makes them major. However, now that I know I'm pregnant, these little things have actually become big issues, and with a baby on the way, they need to be nipped in the bud PRONTO!

For the sake of our marriage and our impending family, I could really use some help.

Thanks,

Lissy

Congratulations on your exciting news!!! Why don't you contact either the spinal injuries hospital that your husband spent time at, or the SIA in Milton Keynes. Both would understand what you and your husband have been through, and I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction if nothing else.
I've e-mailed SIA in MK a few times with queries for my son, and they have always come straight back to me with so much useful help and information. Good luck with your pregnancy!! Sandie x

Sandie, that's exactly what I did! I'm waiting for them to email me the names of counsellors available either at SIA in Milton Keynes, or at Stanmore Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, which is where my husband did his rehab.

I am really excited about having a baby, but I'm also freaking out because of the issues that we're having. The sooner we speak to someone, the better...

Hi again, sorry not responded to your last post sooner but haven't been on here for a few days, (work/family etc.)
Hope you've had a response to your e-mail and managed to sort something out since last week. Don't forget communication (on both sides) is key to sorting everything out. We are all very good in assuming we know what the other person is thinking/feeling/wants etc. Its not until we stop and talk things thro that often the opposite is true. Stay strong and healthy for that new baby! Sandie x
