Does anyone know of any organisation in the UK that you can get to come out and do pressure mapping properly? Even my spinal unit at Salisbury hasn't got any sophisticated pressure mapping equipment.

Well I assume nobody has any suggestions? Think I have found a couple of places that have pressure mapping equipment at the UK.

Hi

I am surprised Salisbury doesn't offer pressure mapping. My husband had it done at Stoke Mandeville a couple of times.

I would think that if a private company offered it you may be expected to buy their product whereas Stoke gave him the computer generated read out with a multi-coloured chart..bit like a weather map.

Not much help to you I know.!

I had it done at my local wheelchair voucher centre, and they are just one OT in an office.

Its a very simple piece of kit, I am sure they must be at least one in every county, or at least where your centre is that gives wheelchair vouchers.

Not that the vouchers can ever buy the chairs we need and they supply them for us of course!!

I had mine done a few times at Sheffield SIU.

When I talked to my local wheelchair services in Basingstoke in Hampshire (April 2010), they said it could be done in Salisbury and that there was a team who could come out and do it.

I guess you must have asked at Salisbury, but it seems odd that an SIU doesn't have this essential piece of kit? And odd that my w/c services said they DO have it? Maybe worth talking to your local wheelchair services, and if you get the answers "don't know" or "no" just be persistent.

Had it done both at Stoke Mandeville SIU and at the local wheelchair services.
