Hi all,

Can anyone recommend any good racing wheelchairs out there and whether it is better to sit or kneel? Whilst I'm at it if anyone can suggest any wheelchair racing clubs in South East London that would be great too.

Thanks

Hi

Sitting or kneeling largely depends on your level of injury and also personal preference. High level paras tend to sit in a postion with the knees in a high position so they can lean on the knees for balance. Low levels might kneel. Some sit feet forward or use a footplate for a multiude of reasons. The best way is to try different chairs and see what suits you best. When i tried racing i found kneeling was fastest but less comfortable.

Top End make chairs. Draft Wheelchairs.Bromakin Wheelchairs and then there are makes like Eagle in the USA.

Not sure if this club is near enough? http://velocityracers.co.uk/

Otherwise talk to British Wheelchair Racing Assoc

Good luck
