My California USA workers compensation insurance carrier is forcing me to except a modified mini van. I am in a wheel chair. I can transfer by myself. The mini van does not fit my needs. I would prefer to have a full size van with a trifold lift and Kemph hand controls.

Can I accept the van they want me to have and then turn around and sell it?
I would then use the funds to finance the vehicle I feel will fit best.

YO steve its workers comp you deside what you want. I have workers comp and got my truck modified so i can drive it. I got an air ride suspension and hand contorls on my truck. Talk to you adjuster or case manager let them know that your not able drive it. Force & workers comp dont go together its you who has the last word on anything and everything.

Most likely they are going with what is the cheapest, we are going through the same thing here in ohio with the type of van controls that are getting put in. We want one type and the state is saying that they are going with the lowest bidder. The consumer has NO choice.

It really does depend on the Insurance company in question. Some things, my company has tried to scrimp on, while about others they say nothing about cost. I sometimes think it depends on whether they happen to be in a good mood that morning.

But, no, they don't have to please us,,, they are simply required to provide what we need. Most will do just that if you tell them what you need in the right way.
