Hi: I just joined. My husband is C4-5 quad. Injury 14 months ago. He recently had labs done and has come back as "borderline anemic." The doc wants to have a hemocult test done (3 poop samples). Is this common in SCI patients? He is very healthy other than the injury. Any imput?
Thanks

I'm not sure if it's "normal" with SCI patients but I know a good handful that are anemic including myself... if anything it just takes longer for wounds to heal (hopefully you won't have to go through that). No worries...

I'm not sure. I haven't met many paralyzed people who are anemic. I, however, am anemic. I think it is because I burn energy so quickly and I can only use my hands, so more effort is being put into things. It may also have to do with the fact I only weigh like 102 pounds. I can heal fine, the only real "symptoms" I have are coldness, paleness, fatigue, sleeping a lot, and sometimes muscle weakness.
