Forum Upgrade
01/07/2010

Dear Members,

Updates to the new forum are now complete, and as you will see, there will be a few new features for you to explore.

I have no doubt that some members will be a little confused by some of the changes, but the help files above do give insight to the new facilities.

One of the major changes is the new chat room, this is now integrated to the database, and is a lot easier to use.

I will be making slight modifications to the forum over the next few weeks, as I find my way around the system, but thought you'd all like the forum back online as soon as possible, so I brought the system online ahead of schedule.

Take your time, look around, check your profiles, and don't shout too much at me for moving things around! :)

Simon

I hate anything that changes...even if it looks pretty and may in the end prove simpler. It's my perogative now that I'm beyond 60 to not want anything to change so's my fading brain isn't over-taxed with learning something new. Currently, I'm going into mourning from missing the New Posts button which saved me lots of time. Grumble mumble.

i wish we could view post from the day prior and week prior etc. the new content is just for the current day. i also have a problem with everything being spread out and i have to keep scrolling until the page builds. i don't think i'm describing the problem correctly but it's annoying.

sorry to be negative. i do like the new layout and the whole look of the site.i haven't explored all the new features yet.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

Simon,

Thank you for the new advanced members filters. I have made a program to scan all members profiles and extract data about location and other personal data, which was impossible in the old filter. Now I can do it with only one query.

OK OK. So I couldn't read [View New Content]. Anyway, I'm determined to grumble about something, so now I'll grumble about not having anything to grumble about. Then I'll get on and read the posts as I've always done.

I got one! :)

I hate having to scroll to the bottom of the screen to find the only "Back to top" button.

Could we please have clones of it at intervals as you scroll through a topic etc. back again?

Simon,

I'm still happy with the new forum.
I've got one wish / suggestion, however: (like tyvin) I find it a bit awkward that, when adding a reply (except for the 'fast reply'), you can no longer see the posts you're replying to. I always have to switch back to the other page. Could that, perhaps, be changed?

Thank you for all your effort.

Not true. I just caught up on 2 days worth of "new content". The new content is based on when you visited the site last. I hadn't visited since the 2nd so I got every new post between the 2nd and today when I clicked new content.

Hi,

It appears there is a bug in the forum software when viewing topics in Outline Mode.

Some posts may appear missing, even though they are not.

Until this issue is resolved, I recommend members switch their settings to Standard View.

Go to your Profile Settings, click the Forum Tab at the top.

Under General Settings, at the bottom of the page, change the Topic Display Mode with the drop down menu to Standard, and save.

You should now be able to see all replies.

I have informed the software developers, and am awaiting a response.

Regards

Simon
