Police Chief Parks In Disabled Parking Spot - Tickets Himself!

A Metro Atlanta police chief, who turned himself in for parking illegally, paid a nearly $300 fine.

Chief Gene Wilson admitted he parked in a disabled parking spot at a Conyers Chik-Fil-A. Wilson told Channel 2’s Diana Davis he realized he parked illegally after getting breakfast at the restaurant on Highway 138.

“I come back outside, and there is the disabled parking parking sign with my city police car sitting right in it, and I’m thinking I didn’t do this, but I did,” Wilson said.

Lol.. This guy is dilly..
I think the message he's sending is more "Parking for rich people.. It's ok to park there as long as u pay the fine.."
If the new light is seriously blocking his view they should sort it out before it's a child on a bicycle that he "couldn't see" instead of a sign board n road markings..

Just my 2 cents..
What's important is not what happens to us, but how we react to what happens to us..

God gave us two ends, one to think with, n one to sit on.. Success depends on which one u use.. Heads u win, tails u lose..

Good point about the lights, SB. haha
More than likely, he's done this type of thing numerous times before. Now he's finally getting called out on his actions. :D

i liked the article. i give the cop credit for admitting he did something wrong. it didn't say if anybody other than him noticed his transgression. either way i like the gesture. i wish more people in this world were honest as this guy. it would be a better world.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

Is it just because he's a cop that most of the posts doubt his sincerity? If the guy called the foul on himself he's not likely to try to avoid paying the fine. Stikes me the guy is also a golfer,,,, and if you don't know what i mean,, you aren't.

Yada yada yada... sounds like somebody wants to "move up" in the work force, maybe even run for office in the future. Just curious who notified the media for this interview to exist???

Nope, the 'Chief' of Police isn't considered just a cop.

And I can't remember the last time (or the first, for that matter) I saw a golf cart parked in a disabled spot?

Oh I don't know.........I kinda look at it as this.............

If I were an AB & opened up my morning newspaper to find a story that the police chief of MY area had gone to the trouble of having one of his officers write him a ticket & payed the fine..........well that would let me know that if the chief of police paid for parking in a disable parking spot than I as just an ordinary citizen are sure as shit gonna get a ticket for doing the same thing & that no amount of "but I didn't see it", "but I was only going in for a few minutes" "I didn't see anyone needing to use it when I pulled in" is going to get me out of paying for that ticket for parking in a disabled parking spot.

I live in the San Diego area and although I can tell you things have improved as far as how police are dealing with disability issues........I very much doubt any of our cops would so honest as to write themselves a ticket.
