The Best way i,ve found is to cut off the old ones with a wet knife and use nylon cable ties to put the new ones on.

Haha. Wow, I never would have known i could be so easy. You mean those zip ties, right??

I take it to my designated wheelchair repair shop. They can do it in about an hour.

The last couple of changes was done by wheelchair services
I've also done a few with brute force and ignorance with a few bits of steel
There is a plastic tool/spatula thingy you can buy
Then there are the amusing times when the tyre comes out of the rim on it's own accord because of some tight chair rapid manouver that ended with friends and screwdrivers trying to get the damned thing back on
Still use them though
