Sales were slow and I just thought this was a possible resource for family members and newly injured people that may be inspired as some others have. regarding church: I already am a member and my fellow church-goers know my story very well, in fact many of them purchased my book! I hope this clears up some of your replies, but I realize not everybody will enjoy my story, especially if it's a little too close to home for them. Seriously, it seems like no matter what I say on here some people criticize, but I guess that's just life. Thanks for your consideration and "constructive" feedback. Take care everybody

It's not about your story being "too close to home" for others.

You still don't get it. It's like you are in your own little world where only you have this type of injury and only you have figured out a way to survive.

This is a forum where folks help each other at no cost.

And we all have inspiring stories and we share them for FREE!!!

There's absolutely no compelling reason to buy your book. None!!!!!

If you do have good advice to share with others, great.

Just quit trying to make a profit on this forum.

I believe writing is good therapy for the person doing the writing. Trying to sell your own story is another thing.
Now if someone will publish a book about how to cure all the sickness my brother lives with day in and day out I will be the first to buy it

Wow. I think a simple 'this isn't the place for that' would have been sufficient. And if not, consistency and persistence in the 'this isn't the place for that' statement would have done it. There seems to be a lot of anger going on here. That's not why I started coming to the forum. I didn't come here to see you all jump all over someone and then continue to be rude to him after he tries to explain himself. I am not interested in his book either, but what gives here? There is nothing supportive or educational in any one of these posts. Just a bunch of nastiness. Did this make you feel good about yourselves?

Melbel,

I think we agree on the nastiness. and it's not just in this thread. where is the support people come here looking for?

I think some of the comments maybe a bit harsh but Philly if you have lived the life and suffered as you seem to imply I'm sure you understand the reaction you got when you burst in here through our door.

We're not a bad bunch and as has been written above have barrels of what you are writing about between us too which we share openly.

Philly - take this as a lesson to get some sales and marketing advice on how to promote your book. Just take a step back and answer these three questions --what is it that you are selling, why do people buy this type of product and most importantly, why would they buy this from you?

I get the sense you are a very nice guy, just new to all this "how do you promote your book" situation. Lots of authors crash and burn before they find the right market for their book. Maybe a fellow author could help you.

In the meantime, come back and join the forum and get to know a great bunch of folks!

I've now created an area where budding writers can discuss writing their spinal cord injury story.

The area can also be used to discuss marketing, and promotion techniques.

This post has now been moved to the new section.

Regards

Simon.
