Ok, first off... I was involved in a car accident. Thrown out of my truck which happened to flip on my back at one point. Crushed T9 vertebrae, pushed T10 forward, and T11 out of alignment. There were other injuries but won't name them due to length unless asked. I have gotten better faster than most people with the injury of my severity. Crushed spinal cord and one doctor said it was complete and another said it was severed. I have recently started gaining certain muscles back that I haven't been able to use since before my accident. Lower back muscles, obliques, and lower abdomen. I can now sometimes move my right big toe SLIGHTLY. I can feel temperature changes on my legs which I can not feel nor move. I can feel water running down them(very dull sensation though, almost like it's not there but it is) and I feel the muscles spasm. If I am TRUELY complete, how can this be? I feel things most people with my injury don't. I talked to someone who had the same injury as me and he doesn't have the same things as me. I know it can take up to 2 years for my spinal cord to heal(spinal shock and swelling) but with the positive changes I've had thus far, is it possible I will get more changes? I appreciate any answers and will gladly answer any questions you have. Thank you for your time.

My injury was a t 12 mine was not severed or broke either just moved over. You will be amazed how little things can just pop up. Doctors told me youll never walk havefeeling past were you have it all that blaaaaaaa. Well it was ten years this march and over the years feeling has came down to my knees. I have all the back and him muscles working. Stomach and all that get up. My quads work to a extint left is weaker than right. I was walking with crutches and braces in gighschool and got to only one long brace and a short on the other leg but i got lazt so wont go there were its ended me.. Like i said its been 10 years this past march and a few months ago I realized that if i lay on my side i can move my foot down a bit. Couldnt before....... The key is to continue working your muscles even the ones you cant use if you have to have someone do the motions with your legs have them do it. Thats the only reason i was able to get this far bc my mother did that for me. I just slacked off and started not to care and then you loose it again. I know what you mean feeling things like pressure but not the the soft touch below my knees. Sometimes you can even tell if someone touches you softly there when your not looking its weird. Dont put a time limit on anything the body is a weird thing. You never know what each year will bring..... Lori

I have nothing but time so that's not a problem for me. I HAVE been told, however, it isn't odd for someone to gain a few levels below their injury back. Like me for instance, I'm a T10 and now I have T12 movement. That's a few levels lower and all but I'm hoping that since I have heal this quickly in such a short time, maybe there is hope for more. I'll definately be waiting. What does L1 control in terms of movement? And also, what came first the movement or the sensation?
I was very healthy before the accident(just a heavy drinker) could this also be a reason for the quick recover and could it be possible for it to help me out in the long run?
Another thing, drink your milk. It saves lives, saved mine.
