www.stepnow.org has been set up by individuals around the globe whose lives have been affected by spinal cord injury. It is a worldwide grassroots SCI site for those with SCI as well as their family members or caregivers.

The site aims to explore and develop global plans to aid in the fight for a cure for paralysis. We want to avoid national politics and boundaries and look to support all viable and promising research leading to clinical trials and ultimately a cure. Stepnow has been up and running for just over a week and already has members from France, Norway, Holland, UK (only 1 so far!), Iceland, Italy, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and the States. So to all of you in the UK who believe that a cure is worth fighting for, please visit the site, take a look and join up! Thanks.

Hi,

I just looked at that site and found it very hard to see or understand, it is very dark, black background and red or silver, it doesn't draw you in and I didn't find it very easy to move around within.

I did register because we want to help in anyway we can, but this site is so much clearer and easy to use.

Maria
Wife of an incomplete SCI - level C5/6 - accident lifting boards above his head in work caused popping sensation in his neck and this was the result. He uses a wheelchair part of the time.

Never say never, and definately do not quit, its usually worth the trying in the end.

Sorry to hear that you found it difficult to find your way around Maria.
That is the first such reaction we have heard.
I am afraid it is too late to change now, but I hope others are not too discouraged.
Just go to 'step membership' to sign up for our action mailing list, or to 'step forum' to sign up for the forum - or both.

Be Part Of SCI Solidarity History
Sign up now to take part in a worldwide SCI action mailing on WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 4TH 2006.

The STEPNOW SCI NETWORK is initiating a global mailing in as many countries as possible to draw awareness to the need for Government to legislate and fund in favor of all stem cell research, in particular all such research aimed at a cure for paralysis.
The mailing will consist of a letter & test-tube (to be supplied by Stepnow to all participants) to send to your head of government, health and science ministers and legislators.
Our list of participants is growing steadily - we already have members from 18 countries - but we need and want to include many, many more if we are to make a meaningful impact.
Don't let this opportunity to be a part of SCI history pass you by - show your solidarity by signing up - simply send your name & full address to info@stepnow.org so that you can be added to the list as a participant. Regular updates will be posted on the forum of www.stepnow.org , and if you wish to be more actively involved as a coordinator or perhaps a spokesperson in the preparation of the mailing, be sure to let us know.

THERE ARE TIMES WHEN SCI NEEDS A UNITED GLOBAL VOICE – WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 4TH 2006 WILL BE ONE OF THEM.

We now have members from over 25 countries, but only 16 from the UK. Please sign up so that we can make a meaningful impact over there. I know that legislation in the UK is much more favourable than in other countries, but it is still very important to raise awareness of a need for a cure for Spinal Cord Injury, and to make sure that funds go into that specific field of research.
Sign on today by sending your full name and mailing address to info@stepnow.org
You can also include whether you are SCI or Family Member/Friend/Caregiver. In addition if you want to be a spokesperson, you can volunteer for that too. We intend to get as much publicity as possibly at the time of the Global Mailing on October 4th.

Thank you.

JUST OVER ONE WEEK TO GO TO STEPNOW'S GLOBAL MAILING!

It is not too late to take part. Simply email us your name and email address and we will send you the letter for Tony Blair by return email. All you need do then is print it out, sign it and post on October 4th.
The UK is very favourable for stem cell research and long may that last, but we can never shout loud enough for funds to go to SPINAL CORD research in particular, no matter where we live.
