So, we've been talking about going to Yellowstone on our honeymoon for years...but now that the time is approaching to find a place to stay, it's impossible!

Don't get me wrong, there's lots of "places to stay" near Yellowstone, but we don't want to stay in a small hotel room, and we can't seem to find any private, nice homes, cottage, cabin, etc. to stay in that would be fitting enough for our "honeymoon."

Instead of just settling on Yellowstone, we've decided to broaden our horizons a bit, because more than anything, we just want a very nice place to rent for the week, wherever it may be!

Sounds easy right? NOT!! Every website, home rental, vacation home site that I've found has properties listed as "handicap accessible" but they're really not! So it's frustrated trying to weed out the places that are actually indeed accessible. And the few places I've actually found have footboards on the bed that aren't removable. Considering Brad is 6 foot 8, he needs a bed without a footboard so his feet can hang off. Blegh...

So, I'm guessing my actual question is, has anyone stayed somewhere really nice in the United States (because I can't get him to fly anywhere further) that has been completely accessible?!?!? Besides a hotel room of course. Or is there a website out there that I may not have found that had accessible vacation homes??

Any input would be greatly appreciated because I'm nearing the breaking point at this moment!!

one of my favorite resorts the Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada, FL. they have different types of suites. the place is beautiful and people get married there on the beach often. they have a boat that will take you snorkeling or diving. it's really romantic. www.cheecalodge.com
i always stay in 110. it's directly on the ocean and accessible.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

Thanks mellow! I'll check it out, but it's like pulling teeth with him to even consider going to the beach. He never liked it even before he was injured. He's our problem...too picky! haha

Taos, yes! I have found two vacation rentals there that we are awaiting more information on. Everything "looks" accessible but there are no pictures of the bathroom. I would really LOVE to go there, but again....it's not just about me, so we'll see!

Texas is miserable this time of year, stay away at all cost!!!

That boy needs to come to his senses and start traveling with less guidelines.. The world is a big old place, we dont have THAT much time to f*@k around or we'll miss some awesome opportunities. How can you not enjoy the beach, sheesh!

Since he wont go exotic places with you, maybe we should do some girl vacations together!!

Ah, yes I'm sure. Just as miserable as Georgia is right now. It's ridiculous! We would be coming to Texas next April if that really was the case!!

But just found out that the house I was looking at in Taos, NM is NOT accessible. Dang.

And I agree with you absolutely, Brad has a big ol' stick up his butt sometimes and I just wanna scream and yell and kick like a two year old sometimes!!

A girl trip is much needed...let's get something in the works! We could go see Trinity!

We've stayed at the Simpson House, a beautiful b&b in Santa Barbara. Roll-in shower, etc. Very expensive, but very nice.

Also stayed at a nice b&b in Half Moon Bay, just south of San Fran. If you're interested, I'll try to find name.

Yall have probably already wed & gone but if not there is a cool place in the Ozarks outside Branson called Big Cedar Lodge. We stayed in one of the big suite type buildings but they do also have accessible cabins, (which I toured and were sweeeet) and they have 24hr shuttles for going anywhere around the resort. I don't care for country music but there's a smorgasbord of different things to do in Branson. We hit the I max & the Chinese acrobats, liked both.

I just remembered they had this grove on the one of the paved footpaths that had plaques with trees that people purchased & planted when celebrating a wedding. I thought it a great place to vacation and would surely be great for a honeymoon.

100% accessible

Hey, thanks for the reply! No, we haven't wed and gone yet, the wedding's in April, but we have actually decided on going to Las Vegas! I've never been before but he has, so it should be a great time.

I'll have to check this place out, because regardless of honeymoon we are always looking for new and interesting places to go! Thanks again!
