Passenger ordered off plane to make way for obese teenager[/size]
By Paul Johnston
An air passenger has revealed how she was asked to leave a full plane so that an overweight teenager could have two seats.
The woman, who was travelling from Las Vegas to Sacramento with Southwest Airlines, says she was shocked when she found out that her seat was to be given to a 14-year-old girl who was travelling alone.
The passenger told the Sacramento Bee newspaper: "It didn't seem right that I should have to leave to accommodate someone who had only paid for one seat."
She claims that when she complained about the decision she was criticised by the cabin crew.
A spokesperson for the airline said that they could have managed the situation in a better way but explained that the problem had arisen because of the girl's age.
They said: "Normally, if the passenger were an adult, she would be required to purchase an extra ticket but we did not want to leave the 14-year-old stranded."
Earlier this year it was revealed that the same airline had removed film director Kevin Smith from a flight for being too fat.

Doesn't sound like they're discriminating, then. They'll kick you off whether you're too fat or too thin. I read that the woman complaining was put on another flight within an hour,, not all that bad, actually,, as it's been my experience that when you are bumped from a flight for which you had a confirmed seat,, that you flew for free.
