Last yr I started using a wound vac and after a short time I started getting infections and eventually osteomylytis which was treated with several months of I.V. meds through a pic line. After sometime I lost the vac due to lack of progress. During this time different dressings and creams were used and I never got an infection. I didn't heal either, because after so long I quit the whole bedrest thing. Bad choice...
My wound began to tunnel...and it was decided we would unroof the tunnel and try the vac again. (a little over a month ago.) I wised up you know...bed bed bed...yet here I am...and I swear this vac is responsible.
I'm going to run this by the wound care doc, but was curious if any of you guys have been in this situation or had any ideas, suggestions, anything. Can something desighned to prevent infection promote it? I know Ill beat this infection, but have no idea how to beat this sore!
