I know this is more suited on the holidays forum or adaptive equipment forum but I wanted as many people to see it.
I've got an absolutely fantasic shower chair which I use when I go away. It dismantles and packs into a bag that is the size of the seat of the shower chair.
I bought it from www.nuprodx.com there are a few options, mine is the multichair 4000.
I had my accident in 1995 and am C5/6 complete, I went away a few times before having my own shower chair but it was always a bit of a pain in the arse (pun intended!) having to have my bowels done on the bed or having to hope that the shower chair provided by a holiday company was going to be ok. Anyway a few years ago I decided to try and hunt down a shower chair I could take with me and I found the multichair, it's a bit pricey I know but if you can afford it it has been worth it's weight in gold.
Since having the chair I have been to Orlando, Vegas, Mainland Spain, Lanzarote, Singapore, and travelled down the East coast of Australia (absolutely fan bloody tastic!).
I now know that whether I'm at home in England and want to go to visit friends or have a weekend away or if I'm going further afield I will definitely be able to go to the toilet, and as everyone on this site knows this is quite possibly the biggest factor we have to take into consideration when planning a night away.
Hope this helps some of you.

Debs
The standing transfer is certainly a no-no, these days, mores the pity.
I can't be tranferred like that as am too tall and have no arm use to help hold onto my wife! Wish I could though!
We have 2 types of s/chair as we found clients have different needs -carers needs 4 small wheels whereas more independent people need to be able to push themselves.
Accessible holiday villa including accessible transport and airport transfer

I'm pretty sure that on the nuprodx website there is an option for big wheels. I have big wheels on my home shower chair although I can't push it myself.

Health and safety, can't remember how many times people have said to me "can't do that cos of health and safety" "you can't come on this ferry cos of health and safety" blah blah blah.
Sometimes I think people quote health and safety cos they can't be bothered with a disabled person.
Luckily no-one from health and safety lives with me!
