Being a C3-7 Incomplete Quad/Tetra and having not the average SCI, I use a wheelchair when I need to cover a lot of distance, but otherwise try to get by without any aids (the walker was causing me back problems).
Needless to say, my upper body is weak. I can't afford a power chair or to have my house modified for one.
Any suggestions on how to build up my upper body strength so I can propel my manual chair?
Thanks.

Have you tried simple weight lifting? I'm currently trying using good old products found in the kitchen (aka the baked bean cans! It was a trick the physio taught me) or swimming?
Good luck!
Good luck!
That's good advice Clara. You certainly don't need any expensive equipment, but Baked Beans could give you wind..
Bags of sugar or anything you find around your home will help.
I knew a friend who had rings placed in beams in his ceiling. He'd thread strong cord through then make loops for his hands. He'd have bags of potatoes on each end and use them for weight training. A bit of thought is all it needs.
Good luck.
