Cairo - A Saudi judge has asked several hospitals in the country whether they could damage a man's spinal cord as punishment after he was convicted of attacking another man with a cleaver and paralysing him, local newspapers reported on Thursday.

Saudi Arabia enforces strict Islamic law and occasionally metes out punishments based on the ancient legal code of an eye-for-an-eye.

Revenge eh...no thanks, no one deserves to be SCIed IMHO...it solves nothing! Banish/shame him, never employee him, let him survive on his own...

Some say when we get even, we get even worse.
Whole lotta ways of looking at this thing.

Should a populace have to live in fear of being somewhere, ANYWHERE violent harm could come to them? I really don't think so.
But then the concept of punishing violent criminals is both barbaric and costly. To keep them segregated from the rest of society is even more expensive. 50 grand a year to house and feed them. For what? They are very rarely rehabilitated, resitivism running rampent, skills honed to a fine edge of violent perfection.

A swift executiion, toss 'em in a hole 'n be done with it.
May take some time but eventually violent crime with start to decline. Either from a lack of violent criminals, or from the fear of repercussions.

Let's kill a criminal today!

E
when it absolutely, positively, has to be destroyed overnight, call the Marines.

I will nevah, EVAH take a pinch from a greasy muddahf*@kah like you!

How 'bout if I spell it out for ya. D-I-L-L-I-G-A-F

Perhaps if the justice system enforced the original and maximum sentences for crimes, criminals would think twice. (Thats if they actually THINK the first time)

Saudi King Abdullah has been trying to clamp down on extremist ideology, including unauthorised clerics issuing odd religious decrees.

I've always said that I wouldn't wish this SCI crap on anyone, including the truck driver that decided it would be a good day to crash into me and my motorcycle.

However, I did think about it concerning my ex-boss from work but, decided not even her!

That's F%$# up if the judge decides to do this. I would never want to wish SCI on anyone especially if that person was the one who caused the injury.
