Hi Gchesman,

What kind of instruments are you hoping to play and I noticed you have a C3/4 SCI, what upper body functions (shoulders, arms, hands, wrists, fingers) do you have?

Have you thought about using a computer with a mixer and some sound sources ie. keyboards or drum kit, and create/mix your own compositions.

I miss playing as well! Drumming was my game a few decades ago and I've been looking at the lap/table sized drum kits made by Roland and Yamaha.

Another member, topperf (below is his member profile link) used to play guitar and now plays a Roland Handsonic 10 drum kit. The handsonic 10 looks/sounds quite nice, below is a youtube link that demonstrates it's capabilities...

Hope you get back to playing :)

Thanks Jerry. My mobility is somewhat limited but I feel my desire to play would give me strength. Music is my religion and I gotta pray.

Oh I play guitar and need help getting it situated (Martin D41)...(AND I am incredibly grateful for the ability to continue this spiritual activity and LIFE!) ...then one night I was thinking I wish I could play and it flashed: a Martin backpacker guitar! Small, extra light, yet full fretboard and feel...light gauge strings...

Found mine on ebay for $150 USD, but usually about 185...worth every penny...also available at Amazon...this little guitar saved my Life! Now I have built some strength whereby I have my Telecaster on a guitar stand and can slowly get it into place, plug into the small amp, and play while in my chair without someone to spot me...we are still working on how I could play my acoustic piano, as in raise it up so my chair fits under, etc., since I am not really an electric piano player, but may need to do so...

Hope this helps some...also try electric piano, synthesizers, I have this neat little thing called a Korg Kaossilator for fun...but is has a sequencer, and you can really put music together and there is a pro model also...very easy to play, one finger to start even...try this, it is addictive (oh, I can use headphones to hear it...and I also bought a small cute little set of speakers for it, since it is like a private practice...for now!):

In my younger, uninjured days I used to mess around on a piano. Rather than depressing myself with that, I bought a couple of harmonicas and a book and learned to play them. My two dogs love to sing along, even though they are apparently tone deaf!
