Everyone is different. Mine definately improved, and I just have some incontinence now. My bladder got much worse while I was in the hospital for my last fusion and then MRSA infection. Now that things are healing up nicely it is behaving much better. You just never know. Time will tell.

Hi....I am a C 3, 4, & 5 incomplete [for 32 years] and I have gone from being cathertirized [?] to basically controlling my bladder. I found that it had a lot to do with nerves..if I was not near a washroom, of course I had to go. I finally stopped worrying about that. I wear protection and take Detrol medication. I don't have very many accidents, try to drink alot of water [but certainly not before I go out] and I don't drink coffee if I am going a long distance. Actually, in the last five years, I have found that my bladder has improved...except at night, where it has worsened. Now my bowels are a work in progress. I took a course in BOWEL MANAGEMENT and found that if you were having problems with constipation, the best and most helpful thing to do is drink lots of water. Also, DIET is a BIG factor. Every morning I have a bowl of ALL BRAN BUDS [with a mixture that I made of unsalted sunflower seeds, Almonds, currants and dried cranberries] and I pour 2% milk on it or even better a container of Danone yogourt. It does work. Plus don't strain when trying to go...If in a bind [ha! ha!] try SENECOT once in awhile. The better and healthier I eat, the easier it is. Coffee helps also, just before a movement. Good luck

i think over time learn you what works best in terms or b & b. i don't ever drink coffee or beer. i know they will both go right through me and will screw me up for the day. so i drink coke instead and if i want to drink alchol i drink a cocktail with little mixer.

as far as my bowels go. i try to eat faily bland food. i notice if i go out to dinner and eat something excotic and spicey i may have an accident. beer also gives me bowel accidents as well. i try not to overeat and realize what goes in must come out.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!
