Hello, I am new here so let me start off by thanking the creators of this forum.

I had surgery on June 20th on my stomach on the right side to put in a baclofen pump. I have had the pump for 10 years without a problem.
I was given the antibiotics clindamycin and avelox. I stopped taking them 7 days after the surgery.
Ever since then, I have been bloated. I do not have diarrhea. I also have a pain near my left hip in my bowels. I ate yogurt about a week after for about three weeks and was checked for c diff. I have gotten xrays taken and they say im not constipated, I just have a large gas buildup but, I do regular bowel programs with a bullet. I feel like I have to go to the bathroom all of the time. Its been a couple of months now, yet I still get bloated everyday, even after my bowel program.

My regular meds are the painkillers lyrica, and vicodin, which I have been taking for about a year. All of this bloatetness happened the day after surgery. Are there reactions to these antibiotics that I need to be aware about. I am suffering!!

Thanks, overdose..

i'm not sure why you are so bloated. i stopped taking lyrica because it causes me to swell up uncomfortably. but you said this didn't start until after your surgey.

there is another post today about baclofen and detrol causing diverticulities. maybe you should read that and see if it pertains to you as well.

best wishes,

Bloating can be caused by the antibiotics wiping out most of the bacteria that help you digest your food. Yogurt does little to replace this huge deficit. I recommend the probiotics sold by Life Sciences and one called threelac. Google it.

Been there.
Look! It's a snail! It's a sloth! Able to creep short distances before lunch!
