While looking on the 'net for clues about what to do about Gooserider's pressure sores, I found this abstract
http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/18843621
which appears to describe a systematic review of studies which handle the question of how putting a patient on different kinds of mattresses and mattress overlays impacts whether the patient forms pressure sores.

I have not yet figured out how I can get access to the whole article. Clearly, I would prefer to know exactly what brands and models of beds and overlays were found to be helpful, and the abstract does not say that.

Perhaps the biggest surprise was that there was not enough evidence to determine the impact of cushions on formation of sores. One would think someone would have researched that by now.

This article
http://www.rehab.res...df/krouskop.pdf
appears to be trying to wrestle with the question of when and why sores happen. It has something to say about cushions, but not precisely enough to be useful.

Surely I am not the first person to go through this exercise. Do we have any readers who have already figured this out? What did you discover?

Thanks,

Mary-Anne

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!
