My 14 year old was just diagnosed after a bone scan and ct scan with L5 Spondylolysis on both side...they put him put of sports for 3 months. Does anyone out there know anything about this condition?

after a quick google. It appears to be some kind of fracture of the lower vertebrae.
Didn't mention anything about danger to the spinal cord. but it's probably wise to take it easy.
If he's only off sports for three months, then he should count himself lucky.
it could be worse.

do some research on the net. you'll find all the information you need.

I have ankloysing spondylitis which I've had for 25 years since 18, form of arthritis really, soft tissues get inflamed and the bones grow little extra spurs become more brittle and as the discs get progressively damaged the bones start to fuse.
I don't know if what you are talking about is related but the best thing for it is activity, mobility and keep everything moving and good postural awareness. No reason why it should have any effect on the spinal cord unless like me you jump off a motorcycle and snap your back and have internal bleeding.

Don't know if I've helped but I certainly would not be scared it I were you just keep active.
Impossible only describes a problem that needs viewed from a different perspective
