I am crushed incomplete injury rather than severed/complete but..........
Dont know what it is. But it sure is nasty. Lyrica helps and drives it down a lot when lying down. Walking too far brings it on. Sitting upright - still there. Standing? Cant do it for more than a minute due to intense pain. Mine feels like a machine vice is squeezing me to death and then it affects my breathing too. So much so I never wear a bra at home unless I have visitors. I couldnt wear a bra without lyrica. I thought it was just the cord compression but no - it wasnt as I got it after the operation so I think its just nerve pain. Seeing as its gets worse on sitting and standing I am told by me physio this its nerve irritation. Us t-spiners, the doctors just say they dont understand much because its rare-er than lower back and neck injuries. heir words not mine. Hope you find help soon - it real hurts dosnt it

I can't say I have much in the way of positive news for you, from my experience with an incomplete cervical injury. I may very well be different, but I have had this going on since a month after the SCI. I am told that is just the way it is and I should get used to it. A rib cage that feels like I am wearing an extremely tight corset and back muscles that are so tight I think they may break my spine. Moving causes all the muscles to tighten and breathing becomes difficult. Baclofen helps a bit, but not enough to make it go away. Gabapentin helps a bit, but not much. Physical therapy, well, I tried it. I sincerely hope you have better luck. Try to find a combination of medications that help, that's all I can suggest. Since you are a complete, I am not sure what physical therapy you could do to assist. That is outside my experience. Good luck.

I'm an L2 incomplete crush injury. I wish I had better news......but my nerve pain has only gotten worse & worse over the years.
And pretty much got told the "learn to live with it" line as others have gotten. And that the constant pain is just those nerves below the injury on over-drive. I've learned to stay as busy as humanly possible so that I'm finally exhausted enough TO sleep. And the busier I am & more focused then I can often get away with less meds. for the pain & nausea.

No, it never goes away. It just gets tastier and tastier.
Urrrrhhhh what depressing news - I just have to become a part time bra wear-er for life then. I can feel the need to get me a big supply of t~t tape ordered. Lets hope the care component of DLA aint cut from us or I'll have to try and use sticky tape instead because thats all I will be able to afford

Thanks Jok I am glad it worked for you - thing is I have already told the doctors I wont let anyone come near me with their surgical knives and forks ever again, unless like last time, it would be dangerous to my health if I didnt. I may have thoracic injections and thats it
