Cool, got to say I'm jealous. then again it is raining cats and dogs here, so not quite so simple, so if I lived in the sun it may be different.
Still a child at heart!

I was also injured riding my motorcycle. Well, it was actually that damn tractor-trailer than ran me over that did the damage but, that's beside the point.

I saw the same video not long after I was injured close to three years ago and thought how cool it would be to have one like it. Still haven't been on a bike yet. Other things in life keep getting in the way. Like, DD I would like to be able to take my chair along with me, which would put me going down the three wheel route, although I've seen some contraptions for getting the chair on the back of a two wheeler. Some of the reverse trikes look cool but, I've not pursued it enough to have the intelligence to talk about them in detail.

Kevo, an apparelyzed member, has the Lee Beaver setup on his Yamaha R1. There's a thread around here somewhere discussing it.

I would love to ride again but, if I do, it will probably only be on a closed track. There's too many crazy f's riding around on the streets! Plus, the thought of me riding again scares the crap out of my wonderful wife!

There will always be life preferances that have to be considered in no matter what we do
Thankfully there will always be choices on how to solve the problems that will encounter
Where theres a will - theres a way

This is so cool.

What? No adreneline junkie's out there?

Methinks your girlfriend would be following with your chair in the car getting her own adreneline rush:)

I seen this vid a while ago, impressive stuff. I'm sure a lot of para's who were bikers would like to have that adaptation and go riding again, just goes to show you don't need to go for a trike, you can still ride on 2 wheels. I'd love to have a go, I was never a biker, only rode motorX when i was younger for fun and only been on a road bike a couple of times but seeing that video just makes me want a go now lol.
Is that device on the market? That dude could make millions!

I also know someone who was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident and is currently working on getting back on a bike again and looking into having one adapted--not a Harley but one of the sport "crotch rocket" street bikes like a Suzuki. I can maybe let him know about this thread and see if he can join the forum and post some advice on who is adapting a bike for him, where to go/contact, etc., or ask him and whatnot. I forget the name of the guy who he's mentioned who will be doing his bike potentially but if he doesn't want to post personally, I'll try gather up some info for ya'll and post it here. I really think it's awesome that those of you who've had motorcycle accidents want to ride again. :D

It's not the motorcycle (BSA 250cc) that put me here
Ask the driver of the van (ford transit) that ran me over (ran over me)

I found the thread by Kev-O "Who Wants To Ride A Motorcycle Again".

Here's a link to a good website by Talan Skeels-Piggins - T4 Racing. There's some good information on there and he is also a member here, just can't remember his name at the moment.

Discussions with my brother are starting to heat up about adapting a bike for me to ride on the race track. He's a mechanical engineer and a vintage bike nut and really wants to see me back in action and has volunteered his time and efforts in making me an accessible racing bike. He just started racing vintage motorcycles this year and would like for me to be able to particpate in track days with him. I have my racing license from several years ago but, I'm not sure if they would have expired by now and how keen the tracks would be to have a para riding around?

I was talking to my wife about the whole motorcycle thing last night and she has become more open minded about it because she knows how much I love it.

as for riding track days you dont ask you just turn up like you own the joint. they look at you strange but to scared to ask any q's. all ou need is a electric gear shifter and run a brake rear below`below` clutch. by the end of the day they tell you to come back any time.
its a great day & quiet safe

Hi guys,

The name of the guy who adapt motorcycles (not trikes. he does adapts 'regular' bikes ie. Suzuki GSXR) is named Lee Beaver, who is the guy Kev-O also used. I know Kevin and he's awesome, definitely a good person to talk to about it. Lee's based in Phoenix and it will cost around $3000 USD to do the bike. For the name of the guy who recommended him to me or Lee's contact info, just drop me a PM and I'll pass it on. Not sure exactly what he does as I'm not a motorcycle rider but as far as I understand from the guy who told me about him (who is T10 from a motorcycle accident), he's amazing and adapts the bike so you can ride essentially like an AB rider. Pretty exciting! Technology and people inventing stuff is always awesome.

Mimi

Hi there,

I have started up a "Bike Experience" for paraplegics who used to ride bikes. I have a GSXR 600 SRAD which has had a gear shifter fitted and a few other mods to make it suitable for para's to ride. I'm a T4/5 complete and regularly do track days on my GSXR750K7. I have just got hold of a 501 Husaberg mx bike, which I will be converting asap and start using for mx experience too. You can email via tskeelspiggins@hotmail.com or look at my website http://web.me.com/tskeelspiggins for more info.

I can do the experience at Castle Combe (UK) on their track days, as I have an agreement with them. I am looking to get more tracks involved so I can go around the country. Also got a potential sponsor involved, so there may be the opportunity to have more bikes. I can also use my SV650 for those who have more experience, as I have had it converted for race use because I am trying to gain my ACU solo motorcycle race licence to compete against able-bodied racers.

Get in contact if you want to know more or book in a date.

Regards

Talan

Oh, to be in the UK! This is exactly what I've been looking for. Maybe I need to take a vacation planned around one of your track days?!

u dont have to go to UK, theres all kinds of set ups for the disabled, i built mine......but to ride 2 wheel, u would have to use a kit for your bike....he just has a spotter for his race bike i think he said before, but they have alot of like training wheels that pop down, if u dont want to race and just ride........ disabledbikers i think is a good web site, google will find the good sites.......sir wheelie up there uses a set of landing gear, they make a set for big bikes, also make a bolt on underneath set i've seen and they make a set u bolt on to make a 3 wheel setup that u can take on and off easy.....
