I'm not sure why but it always seems that I'm always about 10-15 degrees cooler than everyone else.....meaning to ME it feels like 10-15 degrees cooler than it actually is. :cold: I find that I tend to wear sweatshirts like many would wear T-shirts.....I've got TONS of um because of how much I wear them. When others are walking around in shorts & tanks I'm in pants + T-shirt with a sweatshirt handy just in case. If everyone else is wearing pants & maybe long sleeves or a sweatshirt I'm in a THICK sweatshirt/sweater....possibly even a light jacket. When everyone else is wearing light jackets I look like an Eskimo. When everyone ELSE is saying "BURRR!" I'm wrapped up in my blankies.....my many many many MANY blankies. And about the only time I can get away with wearing shorts or tanks is if it's like 90+ degrees Fahrenheit(sorry to those of you who are Celsius folks I don't know that system at all). SO....am I the only one bundling up more so than their AB counterparts or am I just "one of the gang" on this one too? Medical people have told me that this isn't unique to JUST ME, which is the same thing they said about me not being the only PARTIALLY paralyzed person but until I came here & actually found others like myself who were partials I thought/felt like it was "JUST ME".....so is it "JUST ME"? :dunno:

I know one gimp who isn't happy less he's next to a an air conditioner all the time. Another who's like you, always cold. I'd rather be warm than cold but I've always been that way. Seems the SCI has weird effects on everyone.

I'm the same way. Unless I'm outside in the sunshine and its over 74ish degrees out I stay cold. In the spring/summer, I wear a thermal underwear shirt under t-shirts and if I'm in the house I wear a knit cap and throw a towel around my neck like you would a scarf. It seems to be worse now than earlier on in my injury.

Before the operation and the disc was squashing the cord bad - I was always freezing. I even sat on a beach when everyone else was in swimming gear and I had a winter hat and coat on (I felt such a plank). After the operation I am always hot. With only ice cold feet when its cold.

It was weird but I now tell meself its 'normal' - either that or drive myself mad  with worry about weird things happening.

I got a rule now - if its been happening for a while, me doctor says I am ok and others on here have it too - and I aint dead yet - its 'normal'

It sort of came up recently because everyone was wearing shorts & T-shirt & trying to stay in the shade. I of course being that odd-ball.....wearing sweat pants with a thin long sleeve shirt under my T-shirt & I kept using my jacket as a blanket over my legs. I only get overheated if it is above oh say 95+F (I don't know C).....OR if I've been soaking in the tub for too long.....then it takes a bit to cool down cuz no matter how hot I am I can't "crank up the AC" or use ice (aside from drinking iced drinks) or my muscles tighten up and/or spasm especially the legs. In many ways I'm kinda glad my real-life circle are not disabled & in other ways I sometimes feel a bit odd because I'm "the only one". And just so everyone knows the kidding was just that.....KIDDING around.....they weren't trying to be mean, but when I take a 2nd look at how I'm dressed vs. everyone else.....yup I felt about as "plank" as others. Nothing like coming here to feel a bit less ABE & a bit more NORMAL (abe-normal....get it? :drooldrip: )

PS who spiked E-dog's drink with soap? I haven't heard a single thing that a 4yr old ought not to hear. LOL

Thanks as always to everyone!

When I shower or wash my hands, what is fairly warm to me is very hot to my sister and mom.

I took a hot soak last night and had to keep swishing water up on my shoulders to know it was hot. It didn't feel hot, but it did relax my legs.

I get cold easily, makes my back ache. But its only coz were not moving around like we used to. But saying that, i used to have a bad habbit when i was in bed, even in the winter i would have the fan on, it helped me sleep at night, not sure if it was the noise or the cool air making breathing better but maybe it's just like when people go to sleep with the tv on. Frickin weird though lol.

I love heat, especially a hot shower or a bath, it really relaxes me, my legs feel great after. Normally my legs feel really tight. When i just wash my hands in warm water i can feel my whole body relax, such a nice feeling.

I'm wearing 2 long sleeve shirts right now and it's supposedly 70 degrees, chugging hot coffee and I'm STILL cold.
3 doctors diagnosed me with hysterical paralysis (weee!), 1 diagnosed an incomplete T7, another T2 and the last (and most accurate) T5. Trampolines are BAD. Sleep is unpredictable. And never kiss strangers. Life has moved on.

When I soak in the bath my BF is the one who runs it so he checks it. When I shower I always use my hands periodically to check the temp.....no my legs wouldn't feel they were being burned til probably a 1st or 2nd degree burn.....but my hands & upper 1/2 of my body are able to tell temperature AOK. I do sometimes get overheated while taking long hot soaks......oh those feel SOOOOO GOOD!...but I keep a cold drink near the tub so I can sip cool liquid & not get so overheated & be able to spend a little bit longer cuz it feels so good.....& BF comes in to check on me like every 10 min or so to make sure I don't look too hot. My legs often have a feeling/sensation that they are being crushed....and the hot soaks help with that A LOT! My back & neck muscles just get all cramped up.....and the colder I am/it feels the worse they tighten up. If my legs spaz in California cold & I'm almost always feeling cold.....I so don't know how you guys do it, those of you who live in areas where it routinely snows.

I always feel colder than my friends and co-workers. I get cold easily on my chest and back. I also notice that I'm really sensitive to water temperature. I shiver violently when I get into the sea or a pool, but then shower and bath water that other people find comfortably warm feels boiling to me. I can never drink tea at temperatures friends find comfortable.

That's been since the injury, I wasn't like that pre-injury.

My house is always at 72! In the summer when we turn the AC on I have to wear hoodies and jackets! The other night I went to a bachelorette party, and it was so crowded and stuffy in there, but I was so cold.

When I had to redo my bathroom, a quad buddy suggested I put in a heating fan for when I get out of the shower. Best addition I made to the renovation, hands down.

I'm a freezer, used to be a heater. I'm inside wearing a thermal long sleeve, t-shirt and hoody and I'm just above shivering. My shoulder muscles are always sore because I'm shivering. I'm comfortable from a sunny 75F day to about 85F. Above that and I overheat! We keep our house between 75-78F in the winter. Sometimes if it's cold enough (which is usually let Sept. til late May) I can barely push the joystick on my chair cause I'm all tensed up, teeth chattering cold!

Hurb :)

My husband's injury is very low and I didn't attribute his temperature changes to his injury before coming on this site. He is constantly a different temperature than everyone else and it changes frequently throughout the day.

Although he has other health issues that I'm sure have a part in it, it is always a good feeling to figure something out and be able to attribute a symptom to something specific.

I'm always freezing. To combat this I park myself in front of my woodstove and take a nice toasty nap

i feel cold all year round except in summer. i always feel my hands are cold but actually they are warm to others, and also, my left and right have different temperature feeling. when i feel very cold, my head, neck and back sweat severely and the more sweat, the colder i feel. :head_brick_wall-1: in summer i feel hotter than others which i suppose is due to i cannot sweat under the level of injury. i think the damage of vegetable nerve can explain feeling cold and sweating.

If to everyone else, it feels fine or maybe a tiny bit cool, then I am FREEZING!!! My legs are always cold to the touch. I have this "new" (oh yippy) feeling that feels like my heel bones are going to pop right through the bottoms of my feet. It is very painful. I now know that is when my feet are very, very cold. I try hard to keep them warm by wearing the lambswool lined slippers. They are the only thing I can wear that keep that pain out of my feet. However, I will have a good sweating session if it has been too long since I emptied my bladder! Then, i will freeze again!:) Maybe that's what we need to do - find that perfect bladder amount to keep us the perfect temp!:)
