Briley - I was scared to death! My first, I felt like I was still a kid (I was 21), I thought I would accidentally kill her, all the nervous things! She has survived for 11 years and all is well!
Caleb - I felt more confident. Baby induced a week early (again planned), epidural and all was well.
Isaiah - Baby induced, was born 40 minutes after they started inducing me, he was born fast and had wet lungs. He had to stay under oxygen a whole day but he recovered well. So did I and all was well. He had black curls all over his head and came out sucking his fingers.
Audrey - Baby induced, epidural did not ever work and I did not enjoy the delivery! I was so happy to see my baby girl though and we both were fine.
Macey - We planned the induction again but she decided to come 4 days before that. I went into labor in the wee hours of the morning, called a friend to come stay with our children until my parents could get in, and had a baby about 4 hours later. Epidural worked fine and it was a great delivery.
Elisha - Well, he is different. I became paralyzed when I was 5 months pregnant with him and I really could not even deal with my own issues because I just wanted the baby to be okay. We went into the hospital a day early so the hospital could become familiar with me and my needs and we induced 2 weeks early because they did not want me to go into labor on my own. We wanted very much to deliver vaginally and that was the plan but he had different ideas. During labor, he flipped and was sitting with his bottom down and his legs crossed. I was in surgery within the next 30 minutes to have an emergency C-section. The anesthesiologists had a very hard time with me and we had several complications. I don't have very many memories of it all until 2 days later. I was in the hospital for 8 days. On the 6th day, I had a hematoma and it blew out the entire right side of my incision and was very deep. So, I went home to a hospital bed in my living room and my husband had to repack my wound twice a day. I was thankful for the lack of feeling during those times! (Although I would have a deep tugging sensation on the opposite side he was working on - weird!) Anyway, after a 6-8 week recovery (which included 3 days of vertigo)I finally thought that I may finally recover from that delivery. I will say on thing though, Elisha and I got a lot of snuggle/bonding time those first 2 months!
Oh, and yes, we are done.

Brice Nicholas- born on July 4,1992 at 6:15 am. He was born by c-section due to his size, came in to the world at 13 pounds 9 ounces 22 inches long. When I looked at him for the first time I finally knew how much a parent can love a child.
Andrew Johnathon-born on August 11,1993 at 12:34pm by c-section, Drew was 11 pounds 1 ounce and 22 inches long. He was my only baby born with hair, a fully head of black curls.
Davis Alexander-born on May 1,1995 at 5:09pm by c-section, Davis was born 4 weeks early at 10 pounds 8 ounces and 20 inches long. Davis was by far my easiest baby, he slept threw the night at 3 weeks old.
Claire Danielle-born on February 15, 1997 at 7:55am also by c-section, Claire was my smallest baby at 6 pounds 10 ounces and 19 inches long. When the Doctor announces "IT'S A GIRL" it was such a shock, I was sure we were having another boy.

First, dear Christie, congrats to your children's birthdays! Yes, time flies - and children are (as I say on my profile, too) wonderful and quite a challenge at times. I wish you a whole lot of those wonderful times we share with them! (Whenever they're starting to be a challenge, remember to ship them off to China for a while.
Births? I'm not sure if this is mainly / only for SCI mothers. Still, as Mindy posted also, here are my stories.
1) My daughter, born in 1990. It was a difficult birth (no epidurals or anything wanted), long. A few minor complications. Afterwards, my husband and the nurse needed oxygen from a bottle (word?), true. Not me, though. (Power woman? No, just the endorphine hormones, I guess.) When my daughter was put on my stomach, she stopped crying like hell and looked me straight in the eyes - total trust, immediate bond. It was an incredible moment.
2) My son, born in 1996. A much easier birth. Very fast (I got some homeopathic stuff before, don't know which). I phoned a friend from hospital right before the birth: "Sorry about our breakfast this morning - I'm in hospital having my baby." No epidurals either. When my husband bathed the new-born baby, he said: "This one is going to have a different temperament from our daughter." True, from the start.
I love them both.

Brayden David born on December 25,1999. He was born after a very long 30 hour labor. It was a very very scary time for me, being 19 didn't help to much. Brayden was my most easy going baby and still very easy going.
Jazmine Joy born 4 years larer also on December 25th. I ended up having a emergency c-section, both myself and Jazmine came close to loosing our life during it. Jazmine is a very funny, high energy little girl, she's most happy riding her dirt bike with her brother.
Jerzee Grace came in to our family on June 5,2010. Her birth parents both at just 17 years old made a very hard choice when choosing adoption. We make sure they are and will always be a part of Jerzee's life, she comes from two very strong people. Jerzee is a pretty high maintenance baby, she fits her name and is already a little Jersey girl.

Crist, 9 June 2004, was born at the foot of our bed. He was the most difficult as his arm was in a strange position and had to be resituated before he could fit.
Faye, 18 November 2006, was born in a warm kiddie pool in our kitchen.
Lily, 4 April 2009, was born, 4 months after our accident, on our bed. Thank the Lord she wasn't damaged in any way by the accident.
I was the first to hold them all and there was nothing like it.

With my daughter, I had trouble with low amniotic fluid levels, I was severely anemic, and she was a big baby at 9lbs 4oz...she was putting a lot of pressure on my spine which was causing all kinds of issues. After 13 hours of labor, she was born!
My son, I developed kidney stones along with massive UTI's like usual...they had to surgically remove the kidney stones, but unfortunately they forgot to give me post-op antibiotics and I developed sepsis...I was 6 months pregnant at the time. My temp hit 105.1 and lasted for 4 days before they could figure out what medicine they could give me that wouldn't kill me and the baby. They had to revive me 3 times. We pulled through that after 3 weeks in the ICU and 4 weeks home IV antibiotics. 9 1/2 hours of labor and at birth, he was 9lbs 15oz.
Doctor advised me that I should never have another baby because of all my past complications, which is fine, because 2 is enough for us! haha Rue, how do you handle 6?? lol

One day at a time!!! No really, they are good kids and my hubby is a tremendous help. He is a natural home body anyway and is happy just with his wife and children. He is a Pastor and his study is attached to our home so if we have little "emergencies" throughout the day that are a little above my ability now, then he is always willing to help. My older children buddy up with the littler ones and help out also. They enjoy getting to be "the boss" for the task at hand. The little ones enjoy being Mommy's helper so they love to carry things for me or help me make beds and such. My house is never "clean" because we all live in it 24 hours a day, but it does stay manageable. I had a helper for a little while right after I became paralyzed until I could figure things out for myself but she has not been with us since the baby was born. I think she was more of a stressor for me than my messy house. Not because she was bad or anything, it was just emotionally VERY difficult for me to see someone else doing my work. I decided I would just have to learn it or go nuts! Maybe that is my problem! Maybe I did go a little nuts!

Our first born is our son Christopher Ayden, he was born on July 16,2008. Christopher came in to this world early at only 1 pound 9 ounces, he was so very tiny but had such a huge presence. Christoper was only with us for 3 short weeks, we miss him every single day. Christoper helped me achieve my dreams of being a Mommy, even if he was only with us for 3 short weeks, he'll always be in my heart.
We very quickly were blessed with our daughter Destiny Love on March 28,2009. Destiny was born a little early but was a very healthy baby at 7 pounds 9 ounces. She is a very remarkable little girl, everyday we have with her is such a blessing to our family.
Last but certainly not least is our daughter Giana Marie born on September 5,2006. Giana has only been with our family a short time though we already can't remember life without her. She may not have grown in my womb but she has surly grown in my heart. We don't know much of Giana's birth, she's had a tough couple years and has been bounced around foster homes. Giana was diagnosed with SMA type 2/3 at 14 months old but never ever lets it stop her.
