New poster,
My sister suffered a compound shattered ankle and has been released to my care. Yesterday in a borrowd chair that has plastic spoked wheels and airless tires; she made a tight 180 degree turn and a tire peeled off.
How should I repair this? Glue perhaps? If so what kind of glue would be best?

If you mean that the rubber of the tire actuallybroke apart so that you have one long piece instead of a ring or circle,,, then I think you are out of luck. If, on the other hand, it simply came off of the rim,, then it's a simple matter of using two or three screwdrivers as levers,,, plus a lot of patience,,, to put it back in place.

I surprised my self by doing the same when the solid rubber tire on one of my casters came off. It does take time and patience,, and strong hands,, but it can be done.

Thanks for the come back Ed,
The tire didn't break, it rolled off the rim. Inside the rim it looked like some kind of glue residue hence my question. Good news is yesterday I taught her to to make 180's by counter rotating the wheels. She did several laps up and down the driveway and didn't throw a tire.

Sounds like you got it back on okay. I don't know what they would have used for an adhesive. The difference in the flexing of the rubber/metal would shear anything I can think of. Rubber cement on one extreme and epozy on the other,,, your guess is as good as mine.

Maybe the different technique will help. If not,, keep your tire tools handy.
