My son is now 18 yrs old. He is a severe spastic quad with cp. His first pump was installed in 1999. It had to be replaced because he was receiving overdoses (unexplained) that led to comas. The second pump worked o.k. But after about 3 years spasticity increased. They found that pooling of baclofen was occurring at the end of the cathedar due to scar tissue buildup. By this time the battery life of the 2nd pump was expiring so in March 2006 a 3rd pump was put in and the cathedar was relocated. This was a difficult task because he his a spinal fushion. As of today there are signs that he isn't receiving the baclofen due to no response to increases and poor CSF withdrawal from the pump. Doctors are thinking he may not have a good CSF flow due to scar tissue or that the cathedar is not placed properly. I want my son to be able to live a relaxed life so that he can function in life comfortably. This is his 3rd pump in 7 years. Any suggestions?
