Hi, If you haven't come up with anything yet I have a friend who has adapted something. Let me know and I can point you in his direction.

Hi,
If you are happy to provide your email address i will check with him and he can then email you direct. He has previously sent me some photos of him in his handcycle with his daughter in a seat behind and I'm sure that he would send them onto you too and let you know how he did it.

well - thanks for the inspiration - we bought a 25 quid cheap carrier, clamped the locking bit to the rear frame rail, and I took an angle grinder to the support rails, chopping them off 8" shorter than original, and made new locating grooves with said angle grinder.
Kid on back, mum has even less grip than before, but hey - its a start.
Project 2 - convert to rear wheel drive......... design already started

My partner is also a para and I'm sure he would be very interested in a carrier for our (unborn as of now!) child on his handcycle. I'd love to hear about any adaptations that were made to be able to bike with our baby.
