i live about 30 minutes outside of baton rouge, la. i am new sci injury. t/3 t/4 complete from car accident. i have medicaid. i just moved here from mississippi had had none of these problems with medicaid. i had to move here because i had no one to care for me and ended up with horrible uti, sore on my foot, and no one would help me with general hygiene care. my mom left her life and moved here to la to care for me and help me with my 14 month old little girl. Thank GOD for her. we are staying with my aunt until my child's paternal grandfather buys me a trailer. then we are moving back to mississippi because the healthcare for me sucks here because i have medicaid and i was not domiciled in this state at the time of my accident. i can't get any help. all i have gotten so far after two months is a home health nurse, medicaid doesn't cover aids which is what i need. i can't get into the shower. my mom gives me a good bed bath everynight, but it's not the same as a bath. i am sweating so bad my legs hurt, which is weird because i am not supposed to feel them. the uti is cleared up cuz er gave me a round of cipro. i can't find a doctor here that will help me and give me the medication i need. they want me to go a pain management doc and none around here take medicaid. i did not have this problem in MS. i have had to go back to my doc in MS and pay cash for my visit and medcation which is close to two hundred dollars and i cannot afford this and bills and my child on this ssi they expect me to live on the rest of my life. her dad is in jail so no help from him. can anyone give me some advice or know a doctor here that will help me. i have no quality of life hardly for the chronic pain and i start therepy friday and i dont know how i am gonna get through it, and i need it soooo bad. anytime i go to er they think i am drug seeking and i am having signs of ad. help please.

i feel for you and your situation, sounds like what i was going through. i was paralized since dec 13, 2007.It's still a struggle i had medicaid , they cut me off, now i just got approved for medicare. i don't see why you can't get any assistance through medicaid. they give you a lot of assisatance on medicaid through waivers. if you want to contact me on some do's and don'ts in dealing with medicaid you can contact me through my email. i'll be more than happy to assist you in many ways as i can. i check my email everyday. @tooosweet197830@yahoo.com. it's a constant struggle so i know exactly what you're going through. good luck to you.

Google "Louisiana Traumatic Head and Spinal Cord Injury Fund". Apply ASAP as it takes some time to get approved......

google "louisiana vocational rehabilitation". They helped me and they can help you too. Mississippi has the same resource. Just curious: your profile says you are T-3. Are you overweight? Why are you taking bed baths? There are medical supply stores in BR where you can purchase and rent shower chairs for next to nothing (I was injured there and lived there for 7 years with a SCI). You can place one in the bottom of a bathtub or stand up shower.Do you have a wheelchair? I have taken a shower in my day chair many times when necessary. It will dry quickly. You seem very immobile for a T-3. Good luck. You will find that much of your limitations are self-imposed. It is very difficult at first but keep telling yourself "I can" when the rest of the world is saying "you cannot".
