I am browsering the internet and came across some rehab information about long leg braces and using a walker. It says that t-2 - 5 have partial trunk movement and may be able to stand , with braces and walker and walk short distances . t-6 - 12 may have partial abdominal muscle strength, and may be able to walk independently for short distances with braces and walker or crutches.
Has anyboby tried this, if so please share your story?
I am a t-7 complete

I've been researching this topic for a few days and have talked to some great people about it. It does take a while and you have to be paitent but what else can we do. I am a T12 and can move from the waist and up and I would like to try them as well. I have to get my PT to recommend them so the insurance will pay for them. First you have to start off on parellel bars and then you can work your way to a walker. Then you could, if you're lucky, walk with cruthes or with nothing. I want to stand and move so I'll do whatever it takes. The leg braces are called KAFO's, it's an acronym but I have no clue what it means. Good luck and let us know how things go.

KAFO's, it's an acronym
KNEE-ANKLE-FOOT-ORTHOSIS
ALWAYS REMEMBER - The darkest hour is only 60 minutes long and what won't kill you will make you stronger.
cauda equina lesion resulting in lack of ability to walk. Spinal cord undamaged and intact. NOW ABLE TO HOBBLE AROUND ON 2 STICKS AFTER LOADS OF PHYSIO.

Jodie, how long did it take you to get movement back in your hips?
Only about a few months....
But I am constantly working at getting better........
