Ive been taking tramadol on and off for the last few months and have noticed I have put on a bit of weight. Nothing major probably a couple of pounds. I'm not secretly scoffing mars bars of gorging on ice cream, in fact my calorific intake is generally under the recommended intake for women. So I was reading up on it and found its very similar to effexor in its molecular structure and action. now I know a few people who have put a shed load of weight taking effexor so was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with tramadol?
cheers

I was on tramadol (up to 300mg of regular or 400mg slow release every day) for 4 years but found it was some of the other meds I was on that caused weight gain. I went off them and lost a lot of weight and more recently had to go off tramadol because of a nasty reaction (possibly from taking it for so long) and noticed no weight gain or loss.

I agree with the last 2 posts, I take 2 x 100mg slow release and 50mg caps as required usually no more than 4/day. Been for a year now and no weight change in either direction.
Impossible only describes a problem that needs viewed from a different perspective

I used to take Tramadol and did not notice any weight gain but I also took Amitripyline for a time and that really piled on the pounds. I have lost most of it since I stopped taking them mainly because they made me feel like a zombie and I slept a lot then.
