crepitations

I usually experience crepitations when I do some leg stretching and exercises. The movement of moving the knees in a flexing motion - forward and backward. These are noises that can be heard and felt just above the patella of the knees. Does anybody know how I can lessen the rubbing. I feel that the wear and tear will soon have other consequences like arthritis or much worse. Do you feel crepitations too? I cant tell if they are ordinary for us SCI or we can just leave them and let them be.
