I walk using crutches. I have noticed my right hand especially my little finger seems to be getting weaker and given the chance trying to curl under a little. Has anyone else found this happening? I also drive with handcontrols and my right hand is in the same position as far as grabbing something. I am somewhat left in the dark from my hospital because they tell me nothing as far as what may happen in the furure. I recently seen the consultant and said my new problems and he basically said someone with my condition its to be expected? EXPECTED..... I NEVER RUDDY EXPECTED IT. Ive only been under care of the hospital since 1987 and it must of slipped there mind to tell me what may or maynot come in the future like toilet habbits because of SI. I have a friend who is tetra and has a named nurse who she can phone for advice. I havnt even been offerd physio to help my legs. My walking problem is due to stiffness and when asked if there is anything else i can try other than baclofen the hosp said you tried what we can offer you, GET ON WITH IT. Dont get me wrong im not a complacent person in the slightest and actually very rarely class myself or look upon myself as disbabled and like others to do the same but i think im right in thinking ive been left out somewhere.
cheers lee

Hi Lee
Which hospital are you under and who do you see? I usually spend my time between hexam and the newcastles General and Freeman. Hexham is really brilliant, mind you I think Im the only patient! I have a named nurse there who rings me evry couple of weeks to see if Im ok. I also have named OTs there as well. If youare unhappy then see if you can get a referal elsewhere and get reassest, its your right to demand it. I suspect after nearly 20 years they are getting complacent and it would be helpful for someone else to take a look at you.
Cheers

Newcastle General but for obvious reasons dont really want to say who im under. I might just ask at the GP's about physio or unless i would have to be refered from my consultant. Im not having a real spit the dummy session just im noticing everyone or most seem to get help ok and are in constant contact with someone. The friend i refered to is from the spinal unit at Hexham ahd she says there great. never mind. Will think some more and maybe go to the GP's and ask.
