Hi all
just a new subject to keep things going- I live in a one bedroomed flat provide by my local housing association, i lost my large three-bed due to a divorce and to this day i don't think i would have been sci if it had'nt happened because i was satisfied with my 'lot'
But destiny is a funny thing and we often think what if? maybe? but etc
when i got divorced in 1995 i went off the rails a bit, not drunk or stupid but i did'nt have the same 'joie de vivre' i had lost my wife kids and house also my job-self-employed contract cleaner in a local steel mill 'dried up and the work was scarce due to the management using their own staff to do the jobs, i used to take men into the firm and earn substantial amounts of money which i used to pay off the mortgage
Anyway as you may have read in 'my story' i went to work as a teacher in Slovakia- a complete career
change but it did'nt pay any bills and i went downhill fast
Now i am back in England and have my two boys visit i have an inflatable bed for them in the living room
as it is a small flat this takes up all the room and when i use the loo at night i have to go through the flat which is very difficult
I don't feel sorry for myself-this is life and i think we have to take a philosophical approach but it changes so rapidly that now i am frightened of taking any risks i am 43 still young to a lot of people but feel about 80 sometimes as life is going nowhere
Ilook back at different periods in my life -college,relationships,jobs,friends,holidays,etc and feel surprised that i am the same person- my piano and pc has taken over my life

Hi dom
Have you been and seen the citizens advise about if you might be able to get a 2 bed flat. I really don't know how you would get on ,but it might be worth a try, it would be a real shame if the boy's could not stay over .Wishing you lots of luck and a nice big smile :D to hopefully keep your sprite's up

Hi miss piggy, no i have'nt , i asked the housing association but they said because i have'nt got custody i'm not entitled to 2 beds as i am not overcrowded
i understand that and it is a problem across the board due to the housing shortage, i can exchange if i find someone suitable but a transfer could take years
i won't stop my boys from visiting however hard it is though, nowadays i thought 'custody was extinct andthat it was 'equal parental responsibility' but apparently they have to be with me at least 3 days a week to qualify for an extra bedroom and of course my ex won't write a letter saying this cos she's frightened of losing child benefit which again i understand
Thanks for the advice i will try them and see what happens
