According to the world's largest diet study, the best way to lose weight is to stick to a high protein/low glycaemic index (GI) diet with more lean meats, low fat dairy products and beans and fewer refined carbohydrates such as white bread and rice.

The researchers say that calorie counting is not needed; people should just eat until they feel full.

True. Prefer to cook our own. So easy and VERY tasty. Recommend Sharwoods pastes (if you can get them) over Pataks. Waitrose do great onion bhajees and some of their own label pre-cooked veg mixes are quite nice - Bombay Potato, Aloo Sag, etc.

Carpe Diem

Were talking about the Atkins Diet ( OP's post). It does, indeed, produce weight loss. The problem lies in keeping that weight off. It simply isn't healthy to stay on such a diet for the long term,, and it seems,, from all those I know who have tried it,, that you tend to gain more back. I did when I tried it in the early 70s, when he first proposed it. Anecdotally,, it seems that the idea that you can eat as much as you want, is the part of the diet that sticks with you,,,, not a good idea for keeping weight off.

As in all things,,, moderation.

But what do I know???? I'm fat myself,,,, or ,, at least,, that rat bastard doctor of mine tells me I am. ( The skinny P***k)
