Hi Everybody,
I am a C4/C5 incomplete quad, 10 years post. I have been reading quite a few posts from members regarding their pain. The best way I can describe my pain is its like pins and needles, a burning sensation, cramps and a stabbing knife all rolled into one. My pain normally starts out with me waking up at around 6:30 a.m.with pain in my legs and right hip. The pain normally calms down about 10 a.m. and the pain never completely goes away, then fires back up around 8 PM.
The meds that I have tried to help with the pain over the years has been: Darvocet, Zyprexa, Klonopin, Neurontin, Methadone, Actiq lozenges,Avinza to name a few. About three years ago my pain management doctor suggested a Medtronic pain stimulator. This initially showed positive results and that quickly disappeared and needed to be removed because I needed a MRI, next I had a morphine pain pump trial: no success.
My current regimen of meds is Gabapentin: 900 mg 3x a day; Lurica: 150 mg 3x a day; Oxycodone: 6 mg every 4 hrs as needed; Methadone: 20 mg 3x a day.
I have heard of "getting my cord cut" is this possible, do they still do it and where? Has anybody in this group had this procedure done and what is it called?
I recently had a doc who handles my gabapentin and lyrica tell me that she doesn't know if there's anything else she can suggest to help with my pain. When I hear comments like this I get very depressed and think that I'm the only person in the world with this type of pain, then I think about this website and I realize that I'm not alone.
Please help I am at my wits end! ps I apologize, I know this post is rather lengthy.

Hi there, I get really nasty nerve pain down my left side. I am now 12 years post accident and have tried a few different medications in that time. I take 900 mg of Nerontin per day as well as rivitril drops as required. This sometimes works as I feel when I take too much I get tired and cannot study and concentrate at work. This new scan MRN is worth investigating, thanks.
