As far as I know spinal shock is totally normal and to be expected after an injury, it can last several weeks and even months in some cases
You won't know what functions may return until the "shock" phase has subsided, and it will subside

Is it just me or is this a bit of a strange question?

I agree with Trinity. My Spinal shock lasted a month, for the legs, and it's been a long slog coming to creeping around with a walker. One hears wildly varying stories, so work hard, eait and see.
Look! It's a snail! It's a sloth! Able to creep short distances before lunch!
