Hello, I am brand new to the world of s.c.I. I broke my back july 4th riding my mountain bike in a downhill race. I was a super active 15 year old kid now I plan on being the same active 15 year old kid. I am going down in January to California to ski with Bill Bowness and John Davis I am supper exited. I haven't quite got this site figured out so sorry if I am no good at it. But I got some questions has anyone used as sit ski on a t-bar if so how is it done?also what kind of stuff can I do so I am ready for January? My main goal is winter olympics 2014. Thank you

Welcome to the site and congratulations on your bright outlook on your future! You will fit in here wonderfully..

As far as your other questions about the sit ski go, unfortunately I can't help there, besides advising to use the search function. There have been quite a number of discussions on sit skis if I'm not mistaken..

Huh...how 'bout that. You ask a question about snow skiing and the first two replies are from a south african and an aussie. not exactly snow covered winter wonderlands are they?
BUT... we do have snow here in 'Orstralya', and sorry, I cant really answer your question about T bars, (not unless T stands for Ti ..... :blushing02: nevermind)

I can't tell from your post whether or not you've been skiing before, but if you haven't, I had a shot at it in June and it was an absolute blast. Loved it. It was actually easier than I thought. I had about 9 hours of it over three days and enjoyed some nice blue runs on the third day. I'd love to have another go really soon, unfortunately, the nearest snow to where I live is about 4-5 hour flight away, and it was mega expensive. But I'll defnitely be returning.

Hey L,

First off, I think you are going to love skiing! Second, Bill Bowness is a great coach/instructor, so you are going to be getting off to a great start.

I have not used a t-bar before, so I can't help with that. In regards to being prepared for your lessons in January, I suggest just sticking with whatever you are doing for recovery right now, since you have a very new injury.

Take your time learning and listen to your instructors when you get started. It is very important to learn the basics before learning to go fast.

I'm sure some other people will jump in here with some more advice. You can also check out AdaptiveSportsForums.com where there are a lot of active mono skiers.
