My level of function had barely changed at all for 10 years I could cope with balancing in my chair very well and also while driving , and I had good pinch grip in both hand and reasonable strength in both arms although my left arm was probably 10-15 % weaker than my right , I suffered from repeated blows to the head from a not very nice person in march and within days my left hand started wasting and my pinch grip in my left hand became very weak , also the strength in my left arm is now only about half of what it was and I often overbalance in my chair when doing things I used to be able to do with ease . My doctor has made repeated referals for me to see a neurologist but as yet I still have not recieved an appointment , anyone have any suggestions or ideas to exactly what may be causing this , as it has made life considerably more difficult not only for me but also my wife who found it difficult to assist me even prior to this further loss of function ( I hate things to be more difficult for my wife than they need to be as she does more than she should and I don't want to wear her out )

The blows to the head sound like an experience you coulod well have done without. I reckon you're going to have to wait on that neurologist getting around to an assessment though even he may find it difficult to be certain. You don't mention any other problems that might have arisen from any neurological damage, such as confusion, headaches, dizziness, etc. Best of luck with the neurologist.

Nomis ,Like many other people I know with an SCI I also have a TBI (which is harder to live with that the SCI ) and I thought I had it all under control , since the blows to the head as well as the loss of function , I am having a lot more trouble coping with daily stress and my concentration is at times very much deminished I an also getting quite severe AD on a daily basis , as you are probably aware as you live in the same country as me , our system is somewhat backward in dealing with these issues compared to many other countries and we often have huge delays to get urgent appointments , if indeed they happen at all .

Ulookok,
:nopity:

rough story. I am sending a note to the Goddess to lend you a hand, but She has been in a bitchy mood these last 10 years. just know our thoughts are with you.

Interesting thing that , it would seem every goddess I have ever come across has been bitchy for years I guess it must be a prerequisate of goddessism

Sounds like you need to PUSH for your care a bit harder. Call call . . . . and call some more to get that referral to go through. You can't just sit by and idly wait for a paper pusher to get to you. Be the squeaky wheel and eventually you'll get the grease!

I have been pushing , getting referal after referal sent , the sort of delays that I have been coming up against are the norm in this country anything to do with disability here is a very long and drawn out issue percieved "NORMAL" people get prioritised over those less fortunate

It goes with Divinity. God and Goddess are so high up only irony really gets them laughing.

I wonder if this kind of behavior is a common reaction to the disabled. What is as bad, after suffering this assault, is that you are having such poor response from a neurologist.

In some counties it is quite a common reaction to the disabled , even potentially life threatening issues or conditions that are considered a medical emergency for disabled people elsewhere are largely ignored here and the regulations to protect thr rights of Ill or disabled people are not enforced .
I guess it is just peoples ignorance or the fact that people don't wan't to accept the realities for those less fortunate as they might spoil the delusional and blissfull existance of those people who live in their own selfish bubble .

Different people, even within countries, have different experiences. My NZ experiences, fortunately, have been more positive.
